Japan Plan Blythe Charity Event

The Plan Japan charity was one of two of our recipients from the 2011 Anniversary Auction. They came to pay us a visit early this month to report how they used the money they received. That alone was impressive, not to mention how they utilized the money earned from the annual charity exhibition.

2011年春に開催したチャリティオークションの寄付先のひとつである「プランジャパン」
の皆さんが、私たちが寄付した金額をどのように活用してくださったかを報告に

きてくださいました。その活用方法はとても素晴らしく、私たちも嬉しい気持ちでいっ
ぱいです。

The fund receiving country was Vietnam. They used half the money to educate young women challenged with a lifestyle that they are trapped into because of lack of education or skills. A lifestyle of prostitution, drugs, or working in illicit situations is unfortunate. The Plan Japan foundation recruited women to enter their vocational school, training them as beauty practitioners -in this case as manicurists. They said it was difficult to get the women to commit to school. But after a lot of recruiting in the streets they were able to put together a class of 24 women. After the course was complete the women were completely transformed. Two of the graduates started their own nail salon. The others went to work for salons and a few stayed in school to take other vocational training like flower arrangement. Because this class was so successful, the ladies who completed this course, raved about it to their friends and 50 new students joined the second semester at the school, with a total of nearly 74 students completing this manicure course, giving the ladies a new direction in life. PLAN JAPAN- is an amazing and we are proud to have been able to be a part of changing the lives of women in Vietnam.

寄付金をもとに支援した国は、ベトナムです。寄付金の半分は、

自分たちのライフスタイルをかえようとしている若い女性を教育するために使われました。彼女たちはこれまで学問を身につける事ができず、
また知識やスキルもなかったことで自立した生
活も送れずにいたのです。その生活は、街娼だったり、ドラッグとつながっていたり、
また違法な労働をさせられたりと、決して幸せとはいえないものでした。
プランジャパンは、職業訓練校を用意し、女性たちに美容関係で手に職がつくよう（今
回は、マニキュアリスト）に教育しているのです。最初は、女性たちを学校に行かせる
のが難しかったといいます。でも、負けずに何度も街で女性たちに声をかけ、説明し
ていくうちにやっと１クラス２４人の女性たちをまとめることができました。
そして、コースが終わった後、その生徒たちは完全に変貌したのです。生徒のうち２人
が、自分で新しくネイルサロンを解説し、他の女性たちもサロンに働きにいったり、
また、他の職業（たとえばフラアーアレンジメント）を身につけるため学校に残る女性
もいました。
このコースは大成功でした。生徒たちはこのコースのことを友達に伝え、それがつな
がり２学期には、５０人の生徒が新たに加わり、全部で７４名の生徒が、自分たちの新しい
人生に向け舵をきったのです。
プランジャパンさんの行ったことは本当に素晴らしくそしてこの寄付を通じて私たち
も、ベトナムの女性たちの人生を変えるお手伝いをすることができたことを誇りに思
います。

The remaining money was used to purchase new computers and tools for the vocational school. Well spent!
